Welcome to our blog and thank you for showing interest in our youth exchange. In this blogpost you can read about, how we have accomplished to make this exchange a reality and what we aim to achieve with our time together here in Italy.
The project started 2 years ago. A group of young non-ethnic Danish role models teamed up with the residential area task force in Taastrupgaard, Denmark, where they had the idea to exchange experiences with foreign minorities in Europe. They researched the opportunities for this and realized that Erasmus+ Youth Exchange provide funding for these kinds of projects.
The application for the funding included hard work on the objectives for the program and filling out formulas. The team agreed that the objective for the project had to include sharing knowledge across borders, meeting with other ethnic minorities in a foreign country and spending a nice and informative time with them in the context of immigration, integration, national identity, opportunities and possible obstacles for non-ethnic minorities in Europe. The Danish team contacted a partner in Italy named YouNet, which was interested in forming a partnership, so the youth from Denmark and Italy could meet and share their stories, as young people with other ethnic backgrounds living in Europe. Then the application was sent to Erasmus+ and they supported our idea.
Now, two years after the idea formation, we are all meeting in Reggio Emilia, Italy. We are 20 young people in the age of 18 to 26, that are eager to learn more about each other, our cultures and everyday lives as ethnic minorities living in Europe.
On our blog you can read much more about our exchange and daily activities in the following days. So please follow and read about our experiences :)
